Accessibility

We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, so that people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or voice control can find help as easily as anyone else.

What we've built in

  • A "Skip to content" link and one main heading per page, followed by a logical heading order
  • Labeled form fields, with error messages announced and focus moved to the first problem
  • Visible keyboard focus on links, buttons and menus; menus close with the Escape key
  • Text and button colors chosen for sufficient contrast
  • Descriptive alternative text on informative images
  • Layouts that work at 320 pixels wide and when text is enlarged
  • Reduced animation for visitors who turn on "reduce motion" in their device settings
  • Large tap targets for calling and requesting help on phones
